Heytea DP3 - Hills Beyond Tea Shop is an innovative retail interior design project that reimagines the traditional tea-drinking experience through a sophisticated architectural approach. This Gold A' Design Award-winning space, located in Guangzhou, China, represents a groundbreaking exploration of social interaction within contemporary beverage establishments. The design's most distinctive feature is its continuous long tea table that traverses the entire space, deliberately challenging conventional seating arrangements to foster unique social dynamics. The space masterfully integrates traditional Chinese cultural elements with modern design sensibilities, particularly through its interpretation of classical ink-wash painting motifs in three-dimensional form. The interior's most striking elements are the undulating hills that emerge from the table surface, creating natural divisions between different customer groups while referencing the traditional Chinese artistic concept of mounts beyond mounts. The sophisticated use of materials, including silver-plated mirror panels, curved aluminum ceiling elements, and custom terrazzo flooring with jade stone inlays, creates a harmonious blend of textures and surfaces. The spatial composition, measuring 18 meters in length, 8 meters in width, and 8 meters in height, employs strategic mirror placement to create an illusion of endless mountain peaks, effectively expanding the perceived space while maintaining intimate social zones. This architectural interpretation successfully addresses contemporary social dynamics influenced by digital culture while paying homage to traditional tea culture, creating a space that encourages both gathering and contemplation.
