Hebei Branch Of Cams Cancer Hospital Medical Space

Hebei Branch of Cams Cancer Hospital Medical Space is an innovative medical facility design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of organic architecture with therapeutic environments, completed in 2021 and honored with the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. This expansive 593,000-square-meter medical space masterfully incorporates biophilic design principles through the use of fluid, continuous organic lines that create seamless transitions between different functional areas. The design, led by Calvin Leo and team, transforms traditional hospital spaces into natural harbors of healing by implementing specific natural themes for each node space, drawing inspiration from deep harbors, mountains, rivers, trees, and botanical elements. The project's material palette combines stone, wall tiles, medical decorative board, latex paint, mineral wool board, PVC, and aluminum board to achieve its therapeutic ambiance. Notable design features include a distinctive round hall space in the radiotherapy section, which employs bird's nest motifs and abstract floral shapes to foster a serene atmosphere. The interior architecture emphasizes streamlined curves and emotional shapes that evoke sensations of softness, elegance, and natural flow, while the special needs clinic hall is conceptualized as a natural harbor, incorporating design elements such as rocks, waves, and beaches to create an environment of safety and embrace. This sophisticated approach to healthcare design demonstrates how thoughtful spatial planning and natural elements can contribute to patient well-being and recovery.
