He He Lotus Coffee Cup

He He Lotus Coffee Cup

He He Lotus Coffee Cup is an innovative tableware design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of Eastern and Western design philosophies, created by Chinese designer Sun Jian. This sophisticated coffee cup, crafted from premium Fujian white porcelain, represents a masterful blend of minimalist aesthetics and traditional Chinese cultural elements. The design's distinguishing features include an elegantly raised thread pattern that flows across the cup's surface and a striking incorporation of Chinese characters combined with lotus flower motifs, creating a unique visual narrative that gives white porcelain a contemporary interpretation. The piece is complemented by a copper coffee spoon shaped like a lotus petal, while the base showcases intricate lotus patterns viewed from various angles, reinforcing the cultural symbolism throughout the design. With dimensions of 130mm x 60mm x 60mm, the cup was developed through extensive user research involving twenty long-term coffee drinkers, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and functional excellence. This design, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design category in 2022, successfully addresses the relationship between users and their drinking vessels while promoting mindful consumption and cultural appreciation. The project demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its execution, combining practical functionality with artistic expression to create a meaningful drinking experience that bridges cultural divides.
