Haus M Private House is an innovative residential architectural project completed in 2012 in Tiefenbach, Hessen, Germany, that masterfully translates mining architecture into contemporary residential design. The structure's distinctive form draws inspiration from the client's profession as a Markscheider (mine surveyor), incorporating archaic mining shapes transformed into modern architectural elements. The building's centerpiece is an impressive main room measuring 10000 x 8000 x 6000 millimeters, featuring a sculptural suspended gallery layer that creates a dynamic spatial experience. The construction employs a sophisticated prefabricated wood frame system with symmetrically arranged glued wooden beams, while the basement and its ceiling utilize in-situ concrete. The exterior is characterized by a striking aluminum alloy roof cladding and concrete elements in the outdoor areas, including the ramp, entrance path, and driveway. The asymmetric interior space evokes the atmosphere of a mine shaft, with the suspended gallery adding architectural tension and visual interest. A notable feature is the frontal terrace plane, which functions as a stage-like element, enhancing the spatial depth perception.
