Harmony Fabric
Harmony Fabric is an innovative textile design that masterfully integrates architectural inspiration with advanced weaving techniques to create a unique sensory experience. This groundbreaking design, created by Aurelija Stanciukaite, draws its primary inspiration from the iconic La Sagrada Familia's interior architecture, particularly focusing on the interplay of light and color within sacred spaces. The fabric employs a sophisticated construction method combining cotton tie-dye warp with monofilament weft, incorporating heat-bent clear and colored acrylic rods to achieve a three-dimensional effect. Measuring 210mm x 300mm, this textile innovation features a distinctive circular pattern that mirrors the architectural elements of its inspiration source, while the integration of acrylic rods creates an extraordinary interaction with light, producing dynamic visual effects that transform the surrounding space. The design's technical complexity lies in its successful marriage of rigid acrylic elements with flexible cotton warps, achieving both structural integrity and material flexibility. This harmonious blend of materials creates a unique spatial interaction, where the clear acrylic rods extend the perception of colored light, creating an immersive experience that engages both visual and tactile senses. The fabric's versatility allows for various applications, from hanging installations to surface applications, making it particularly suitable for interior architectural features. Recognized for its innovative approach to textile design, this work was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Textile, Fabric, Textures, Patterns and Cloth Design category, acknowledging its contribution to pushing the boundaries of conventional fabric design through its unique combination of materials and techniques.
