Harmony Between Past And Present Private Club House
Harmony Between Past and Present Private Club House is an exemplary architectural interior design project that masterfully integrates Buddhist classical elements with contemporary aesthetics, realized within a 1586-square-meter space in Taipei City, Taiwan. Designed by Yu Yu Chu and Chu Yi-Hung, this sophisticated private club establishment demonstrates an innovative approach to spatial planning through its horizontal symmetrical layout, centered around a primary axis. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, features distinct functional zones including a wine tasting area, wine storage facility, banquet hall, Tripitaka Library, and rest areas, all interconnected through thoughtfully curated transitions. The space's distinctive character emerges from its unique electric mechanism entrance system, which guides visitors into what can be described as a hidden paradise, where sophisticated modern geometrically-cut light-belt designs harmoniously coexist with traditional oriental elements. The Tripitaka Library, housing the complete Chinese Buddhist Canon, represents a particularly noteworthy feature, with its circular antique shelving and dramatic white starlight ceiling installation evoking royal grandeur. The design's innovative approach extends to its wine tasting area, characterized by metallic champagne-inspired aesthetics, while the external wall design draws inspiration from traditional Chinese courtyard architecture. The space's ceiling design incorporates irregular geometric patterns that extend to the wall surfaces, creating a dynamic interplay with transparent wine storage elements, resulting in an atmosphere reminiscent of a contemporary cave with distinct spatial qualities.
