Harbor Project 01 Boutique Apartments Hotel is an innovative boutique accommodation facility that revolutionizes the concept of short-stay lodging through its unique application of shipbuilding theory to hospitality design. Located in Piraeus Port, this architectural masterpiece comprises five apartment suites, each averaging 32 square meters, and represents a groundbreaking fusion of industrial heritage with contemporary luxury. The design, created by Helen Brasinika, draws profound inspiration from maritime engineering and harbor aesthetics, featuring a distinctive built-in OSB (Oriented Strand Board) structure that defines the spatial organization of each suite. This innovative structural element, treated with specialized stucco plaster, resins, and wax, achieves a remarkable velvet-like texture reminiscent of marble while maintaining industrial durability. The project's sophisticated design approach incorporates compartmentalized spaces inspired by ship hull architecture, optimizing circulation patterns and functionality within the limited floor area. Each apartment suite, named after harbor-related themes (Dock, Mist, Cove, Shoreline, and Cinnabar), features bespoke wallpaper designs, bronze antique metallic finishes, and custom-made patterns that reference shipbuilding sketches. The color palette draws from harbor materials, particularly rope tones, creating a harmonious blend of industrial and luxurious elements. The property also includes a traditional Greek-style courtyard with dedicated areas for wellness activities and social interaction, while the innovative CNC-machined wooden structure employs special interlocking mechanisms for precise assembly. This exceptional project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Hospitality, Recreation, Travel and Tourism Design category, successfully overcomes the challenges of state regulations for four-star hospitality properties while transforming a conventional apartment building into an extraordinary design destination for experiential travelers.
