Half of the Mountain Homestay is an innovative architectural and interior design project located in the scenic Maoshan Mountain area of Jintan, Changzhou, China, that masterfully integrates traditional Chinese building techniques with contemporary hospitality design principles. Conceived and executed by senior designer Peng Zhang in 2020, this 5000-square-meter development exemplifies a harmonious blend of cultural preservation and modern comfort, utilizing indigenous materials such as rammed earth, green tiles, raw stone, logs, and bamboo to create an authentic connection with its natural surroundings. The project's design philosophy centers on the concept of traceless integration with nature, incorporating local Taoist cultural elements and traditional craftsmanship throughout its diverse spaces. The homestay's architectural approach demonstrates exceptional environmental consciousness through its use of sustainable materials and traditional thermal insulation techniques, while its interior spaces showcase a sophisticated understanding of spatial organization and cultural narrative. The development includes dedicated areas for tea production experiences and local craft demonstrations, creating an immersive cultural experience for guests while supporting local economic development.
