Hachico Bar

Hachico Bar is an innovative interior design project that reimagines the traditional Japanese izakaya concept for a contemporary Moscow setting. Located in the heart of Moscow on Pyatnitskaya street, this 65-square-meter establishment represents a sophisticated interpretation of Japanese dining culture, drawing inspiration from the authentic izakaya bars found near the iconic Hachiko Monument in Tokyo's Shibuya district. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, masterfully incorporates traditional Japanese elements through a modern lens, featuring an open kitchen centered around a robata grill, custom ceramic tiles, and natural materials throughout the space. The interior design scheme employs a carefully curated terracotta color palette, executed through various textures and materials including natural stone, wood finishes, and handcrafted ceramic elements, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that pays homage to Japanese principles of natural harmony. Notable design features include a distinctive ceramic tile wall installation, cork tables, a custom-made bronze Akita Inu dog sculpture, and a six-meter wood slab bar top. The space accommodates 35 seats and is thoughtfully arranged to create an intimate dining experience, with the open kitchen serving as a theatrical focal point where guests can observe the culinary preparation. The lighting design demonstrates particular consideration, transitioning from abundant natural daylight to carefully orchestrated evening ambiance, while the overall spatial composition creates an immersive environment that evokes the feeling of dining amidst traditional Japanese rooftops, achieved through the strategic use of ceramic roof tiles and architectural elements that reference traditional Japanese streetscapes.
