Originally constructed in 1927, this century-old structure has been transformed into a modern exhibition and sales center while maintaining its cultural heritage and historical significance. The renovation, completed in 2023 by C.M Chao Architect and Planners, encompasses a total building area of 2,468.38 square meters within a 7,243.64-square-meter base, featuring a distinctive transparent box-like design that creates a seamless integration with its surrounding maritime environment. The project's architectural philosophy centers on making the building appear invisible, utilizing double-layered glass walls and fused glass elements to create dynamic interactions with natural light and reflections, effectively blurring the boundaries between architecture, sea, and sky. The design incorporates sustainable elements through heat-resistant and durable green building materials, while the strategic open structure in the middle section ensures optimal ventilation and compliance with wind resistance regulations. The renovation carefully preserves the original Dutch-style brick structure of the Fishery Office, enhancing only its waterproofing to maintain historical authenticity. This architectural achievement, which has been recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, serves as a vital component of Kaohsiung's waterfront tourism zone, successfully combining commercial functionality with cultural preservation while attracting over 30,000 visitors in a single day during its opening period.
