Guangming Public Service Platform

Guangming Public Service Platform is an innovative architectural masterpiece located in Shenzhen city's Guangming District, China, exemplifying a groundbreaking approach to governmental architecture through its distinctive design that challenges traditional conventions. This platinum A' Design Award-winning structure encompasses a total land area of 29,013.71 square meters with a gross floor area of 81,198.86 square meters, rising to a height of 53.3 meters across eleven floors. The design deliberately breaks away from the conventional Taishi Chair-like spatial pattern commonly found in Chinese government buildings, instead introducing a dynamic architectural form that harmoniously integrates with its natural surroundings. The structure is characterized by its unique division into two distinct blocks: an upper rectangular volume housing office spaces and a lower block functioning as a public service hall, featuring an undulating mountain range rooftop that creates a relaxing atmosphere. The building's innovative structural system employs shear wall construction transformed from a combination of diagonal strut and truss, achieving impressive spans of up to 42.5 meters. Notable technical features include floor-by-floor overhangs extending up to 12.6 meters, supported by inclined columns, and an undulating first-floor surface complemented by facade openings in standard floors. The design demonstrates exceptional environmental consciousness by preserving existing topographical features, including two natural hills approximately 30 meters high, thereby reducing excavation work and creating a seamless connection with the nearby Niu Mountain. This approach not only solved practical construction challenges but also aligned perfectly with the district's emphasis on low-impact, green city development, earning recognition through the prestigious A' Design Award for its innovative architectural solutions and sustainable design principles.
