Grid-Electro Candlestick is an innovative furniture design piece that reimagines industrial infrastructure as domestic decor, transforming the iconic silhouette of electric power lines into an elegant candleholder. Created in 2016 by Ukrainian designers Vitalii Kyryliv, Yurii Kyryliv, and Danuta Kril, this distinctive piece stands 66 centimeters tall and 28 centimeters wide, crafted from metallic wire with optional painted finishes and metallic bent sheet hooks. The design concept brilliantly juxtaposes the modern symbolism of electrical power transmission with the ancient form of illumination - candlelight - creating a thought-provoking commentary on energy consumption and industrialization. The candlestick's base deliberately mimics the familiar form of power line towers, scaling down this exterior element into an interior object that serves both functional and aesthetic purposes. This innovative approach earned the design a Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2017, recognizing its exceptional creativity and cultural significance. The piece is particularly notable for its ecological consciousness, replacing electrical illumination with candlelight, while its structural design achieves stability with minimal material usage.
