Green View Public Facilities Hall

Green view Public facilities hall is an exemplary architectural and interior design project located on Chongde Road in Taichung, Taiwan, that masterfully integrates natural elements with public space functionality. This innovative facility, designed by Li-Jen Chang, represents a harmonious blend of urban architecture and environmental consciousness, featuring a significant 660-square-meter retreat area that creates a tree-shaded buffer zone between the building and its surroundings. The 1,824-square-meter complex incorporates sophisticated material selections including Giallo Cecilia, travertine, amber-yellow glass, and bombay black wood, demonstrating a refined approach to material composition. The facility's design philosophy centers on enhancing human living experiences through thoughtful spatial arrangement, particularly evident in its second-floor public reading room and saloon, which embody elements of Zen aesthetics and oriental cultural heritage. The building's extensive high-ceilinged ground floor creates a dramatic connection with the surrounding landscape, while strategically placed shared sofas near widened French windows offer contemplative viewing spaces that blur the boundaries between interior and exterior environments. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2016, is particularly noteworthy for its innovative approach to preserving and extending the natural landscape, featuring rows of Madagascar almond trees and lush vegetation that create a poetic, seasonally changing environment. This design successfully establishes a new paradigm for urban public facilities by creating meaningful connections between city dwellers, nature, and communal spaces.
