Green Rhythm of City Reception Center is an innovative architectural project that reimagines the traditional concept of urban sales centers through sustainable design principles and environmental integration. Completed in November 2020 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, this 486-square-meter facility represents a paradigm shift from conventional sales center design by incorporating a harmonious blend of built environment and natural landscape. The project, designed by Chao-Yen Chen and Pei-Jung Chen, deliberately allocates 50% of its space to landscape elements and 50% to building volume, creating a seamless dialogue between architecture and nature. The design philosophy draws inspiration from Laozi's and Zhuangzi's principles of natural harmony, featuring a distinctive long-pointed shape that emerges from a carefully engineered slope terrain. The facility's innovative dual-entrance system includes an outdoor exhibition space connected by a sloped green parkway and a main entrance that integrates with the surrounding landscape. The interior spaces are thoughtfully designed with large-scale building models and a reception counter that efficiently manages visitor flow, while strategic daylighting combined with external slope views creates an enhanced spatial depth perception. This sustainable approach to commercial architecture, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Landscape Planning and Garden Design category, challenges the conventional temporary nature of sales centers by implementing semi-permanent construction methods and emphasizing long-term environmental sustainability through the integration of landscape art and green garden pathways.
