Grain And Line In The Space Residential

Grain And Line In The Space Residential

Grain and Line In The Space Residential is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies sophisticated spatial planning and material harmony in contemporary residential architecture. Located in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, this approximately 115 square-meter residence masterfully balances functionality with aesthetic refinement, created specifically for a couple of medical professionals who desired a space conducive to both relaxation and social gatherings. The design's distinguishing feature is its innovative half-height TV master wall, which ingeniously separates the living and dining areas while maintaining visual continuity throughout the open-plan layout. The project demonstrates exceptional material selection, particularly in its use of natural stone with prominent grain patterns that create visual tension and depth. The design incorporates a thoughtful progression of materials, including marble, black mirror surfaces, and wooden ceiling elements, which work in concert to establish a sophisticated gradation of textures and colors. The space planning positions the living room, dining area, and kitchen along a single axis, allowing these zones to maintain their individual identity while remaining visually connected. A notable technical achievement is the wooden folding ceiling design, which not only enhances the spatial depth but cleverly conceals mechanical systems while connecting the main living areas. The project, which won a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases innovative solutions for urban residential spaces, particularly in its approach to creating an atmosphere that rivals the sophistication of luxury hospitality environments while maintaining practical functionality for daily living. The design's success lies in its ability to transform a standard residential space into an elegant urban sanctuary that facilitates both intimate family moments and social gatherings, achieved through careful attention to material selection, lighting design, and spatial flow.
