Glowing House Residential

Glowing House Residential is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the seamless integration of commercial and residential spaces within a terrace house structure, completed in 2019 in Taichung, Taiwan. Designed by Tzu-Yi Yang and Chun-Chun Yang, this transformative project demonstrates exceptional spatial planning by converting a corner office space into a multi-functional environment that harmoniously combines commercial activities on the first two floors with residential living on the third floor. The design's primary challenge was addressing the inherent limitations of a terrace house with restricted window placement while maximizing natural light penetration throughout the space. The solution incorporated sophisticated architectural elements, including the strategic repositioning of entrance doors to enhance privacy and flow, the addition of a working balcony, and the implementation of transparent sliding doors in the open kitchen area to maintain spatial continuity while managing cooking fumes. The aesthetic approach embraces modern minimalism through a refined color palette of black, white, and grey, complemented by warm hardwood veneer elements that create a welcoming atmosphere. Notable technical innovations include the reorganization of utility systems into hanging pipelines and the addition of a dedicated shaft for bathroom facilities, representing significant improvements to the original structure. The project, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases exceptional attention to detail in creating a pet-friendly environment while maintaining clear boundaries between public and private spaces. The design's success lies in its thoughtful resolution of complex spatial challenges, incorporating elements such as fair-faced concrete flooring, iron grille work, and stainless steel accents to achieve a contemporary aesthetic that balances functionality with sophisticated design principles.
