Glass House Residential

Glass House Residential

Glass House Residential is an innovative architectural project that exemplifies sustainable modern living through its distinctive all-glass construction in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. This remarkable residential structure, designed by architect Cristina Menezes, represents a harmonious blend of minimalist design principles and environmental consciousness, earning recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The dwelling, encompassing sixty square meters of living space, is constructed entirely from Reflective Laminated Glass, offering complete UV protection and superior thermal insulation while creating a seamless integration with its natural surroundings. The design's modular approach incorporates screwed steel profiles and structural silicone bonding techniques, enabling potential mobility and future modifications while minimizing construction waste. Interior spaces feature certified wood and sustainable synthetic materials, creating a warm contrast to the glass exterior while maintaining environmental responsibility. The house's innovative design addresses contemporary living challenges through its compact footprint, incorporating clever spatial solutions that separate social and private areas through multifunctional cabinetry. The structure's reflective properties create a fascinating mimetic effect, allowing the architecture to seemingly disappear into the landscape during daylight hours, while strategic ground lighting ensures privacy during evening hours. This groundbreaking residential project, completed in 2015, demonstrates the successful integration of sustainable architecture, technological innovation, and modern living requirements, setting new standards for environmentally conscious residential design.
