Ghaneei’s Residential Building In Iran Residential Building

Ghaneei's Residential Building in Iran Residential building is a remarkable architectural achievement that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Iranian architectural elements with contemporary design principles. Located in Isfahan, Iran, this residential structure, completed in 2010, encompasses a total area of 345 square meters on a 580-square-meter ground plot. The design ingeniously divides the house into two main volumes - one dedicated to living spaces and another functioning as a traditional Iranian shelter (Sabaat) - connected by an innovative joint-shaped stairway inspired by the Monar Shagerd in Yazd. The building's distinctive facade features a dual-layer design, combining CNC-cut aluminum exterior cladding with a traditional double-skin facade incorporating wooden elements, characteristic of Iranian residential architecture. The project demonstrates exceptional sensitivity to historical context through its preservation of existing vegetation, including a significant berry tree in the courtyard and a pine tree that serves as a vertical axis for the structure. The design's innovative features include three-story stairways creating multiple circulation paths, integration of traditional elements such as Orsi windows (interlaced double-skin colored windows), and strategic use of local materials including reclaimed stone. The building received recognition through the Golden A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to contemporary residential architecture while maintaining cultural authenticity. Notable technical features include ground-based heating systems, efficient air ventilation through corridor-connected doorways, and thoughtful material selection combining brick in original structures with stone in new additions.
