Garden Love Clue Office
Garden Love Clue Office is an innovative interior design project completed in Tokyo, Japan in 2021, that reimagines the traditional office environment by incorporating biophilic design principles and creating a garden-like atmosphere within a commercial space. Designed by Takuji Kamio and his team in response to the evolving workplace demands brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, this 90.18-square-meter office space demonstrates a sophisticated integration of nature and functionality. The design's most distinctive feature is its innovative approach to incorporating greenery through suspended planters hung from steel and wooden framing ladders beneath the ceiling, creating an immersive forest-like canopy effect. This vertical garden concept is enhanced by strategically positioned ceiling spotlights that simulate natural forest sunlight filtering through foliage. The space is thoughtfully divided into three primary zones: a window-side lounge, a central symbolic tree table area, and a large communicative counter, each serving distinct workplace functions while maintaining the cohesive natural theme. The design successfully conceals necessary office infrastructure such as power outlets within the furniture, flooring, and walls to preserve the natural aesthetic. The project showcases a deliberate contrast between organic and industrial elements, combining natural greenery with stone and steel textures to create a complex, layered environment that supports both productivity and wellbeing. This innovative approach to workplace design earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition, receiving an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its contribution to evolving office design paradigms and its successful integration of nature-inspired elements in a commercial setting.
