Gallery Abode Apartment Apartment
Gallery Abode Apartment Apartment is an award-winning residential interior design project that exemplifies sophisticated urban living within a 950-square-foot space. This thoughtfully renovated apartment showcases a masterful reorientation of activities and functions, characterized by its gallery-like ambiance and contemporary Italian design influences. The interior architecture employs a masculine color palette of black, grey, white, and dark wood tones, creating a clean and sleek aesthetic that serves as an ideal backdrop for the owner's collection of artworks and artifacts. The design demonstrates exceptional space planning through the strategic placement of long-duration activities in areas with abundant natural light and ventilation. Notable features include custom black concrete screed flooring, grey oak laminate cabinetry, and a sophisticated grey marble kitchen backsplash, all contributing to its cohesive design language. The space underwent significant structural modifications, including the removal of non-load-bearing walls to create an open-concept layout that seamlessly integrates the study, living room, and dining areas. A particularly innovative element is the custom-designed wall-to-wall display shelving with slim, linear metal frames in the study area, which won recognition at the A' Design Award competition in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The master bedroom's footprint was strategically reduced to accommodate a walk-in wardrobe, while the overall design prioritizes functionality without compromising aesthetic appeal. The project, completed in 2015, represents a successful transformation of a typical three-room government housing unit into a sophisticated, contemporary living space that effectively balances practical needs with artistic sensibilities.
