Fuzhou Marriott Riverside Hotel is a distinguished hospitality design project located in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China, encompassing 45,000 square meters of meticulously crafted space that harmoniously blends contemporary international design with 2,500 years of rich local cultural heritage. Designed by Bo Liu and Hank Xia, this architectural masterpiece features 318 exquisitely appointed modern rooms, three distinctive dining establishments, and an expansive 1,800-square-meter grand ballroom and meeting facilities. The design philosophy draws profound inspiration from the concept of Blowing Wind and Floating Water, paying homage to Fuzhou's historical significance as a crucial starting point of the Maritime Silk Road. The interior design showcases an innovative fusion of traditional elements, incorporating indigenous lacquer art, oil paper umbrellas, and tea traditions, with modern aesthetic sensibilities. A striking feature of the lobby is the installation of 16 magnificent lacquer screens that soar upward, evoking the image of sailing vessels. The color palette employs natural tones of black, gold, and orange, reflecting the region's geographical characteristics of mountains, forests, and oceans. The project, which was completed in 2020, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning efficiency and human-centric design principles, earning recognition with a Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The design successfully overcomes the challenge of integrating classical Chinese techniques with contemporary international standards, creating spaces that serve both functional and aesthetic purposes while maintaining operational excellence through careful coordination with various technical stakeholders.
