Fushan Ecological Greenway Design
Fushan Ecological Greenway Design is an innovative architectural intervention that exemplifies the harmonious integration of human-made structures with natural environments, situated in the urban context of Fushan Mountain's southern slope. This remarkable structure, which garnered the Platinum A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design, represents a sophisticated approach to ecological architecture through its biomimetic design inspired by naturally occurring pinecones in the mountain environment. The design incorporates a dual-path system featuring an inner ring with steps for expedient passage and an outer ring with gradual ramps for leisurely exploration, both converging at an elevated viewing platform offering panoramic 360-degree views. The structure rises 21 meters in height and employs a sophisticated construction methodology combining concrete foundations with a steel grid structure, where the main support system consists of inner and outer steel grid cylinders. The design's distinctive form emerges from a series of twisted hexagonal floors that progressively decrease in size as they ascend, creating a rational yet organic aesthetic. Environmental consciousness is evident in the selection of materials, including anti-corrosion wood and eco-friendly synthetic alternatives, while the implementation of renewable materials and low-carbon technologies reinforces its sustainable credentials. The structure's innovative cable-suspended pathway system, anchored to the inner cylinder nodes, demonstrates advanced engineering solutions while maintaining visual lightness. Completed in July 2022, this architectural intervention serves as a vital connector within the city's remaining ecological green space, offering a thoughtful solution to urban recreation while preserving natural environments and promoting environmental awareness through its design narrative.
