Frigate Wallfisch and Lielais Square Multifunctional fountain outdoor design is an innovative architectural and landscape design project that transforms a 3.6-hectare urban space into a contemporary public square centered around a remarkable nautical-themed fountain installation. The design's focal point, the Frigate Wallfisch fountain, pays homage to the historical maritime heritage of Ventspils through a modern interpretation of Duke Jacob's 1644 ship. This sophisticated outdoor installation features twenty stainless steel masts of varying heights, reaching up to 26.54 meters, equipped with 17,000 LED lights and an advanced water management system that creates three distinct water effects: falling water, parabolic spurts, and atmospheric mist. The fountain's design incorporates intelligent environmental responsiveness, automatically adjusting its operations based on wind conditions, ensuring both safety and optimal performance. The surrounding Lielais Square encompasses 11,800 square meters of paved pedestrian walkways, 18,160 square meters of green space, and a 1,343 square meter pool area, creating a harmonious blend of natural and constructed elements. The project, which earned the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Landscape Planning and Garden Design category, demonstrates exceptional innovation in public space design through its integration of contemporary architectural elements with cultural symbolism.
