Frequency Modulators
Frequency modulators, also known as FM modulators, are electronic devices that are used to modulate the frequency of a carrier signal in order to transmit information. FM modulation is a form of angle modulation, which means that it changes the angle of the carrier wave in response to the modulating signal. This is in contrast to amplitude modulation (AM), which changes the amplitude of the carrier wave. Frequency modulators work by varying the frequency of the carrier wave in response to the modulating signal. The modulating signal is typically an audio signal or some other form of information that needs to be transmitted. As the amplitude of the modulating signal increases, the frequency of the carrier wave increases as well. Conversely, as the amplitude of the modulating signal decreases, the frequency of the carrier wave decreases. FM modulation has several advantages over AM modulation. One of the main advantages is that FM signals are less susceptible to noise and interference than AM signals. This is because the amplitude of an FM signal is constant, while the frequency varies. As a result, FM signals are less affected by changes in amplitude caused by noise or interference. Another advantage of FM modulation is that it allows for a greater range of frequencies to be transmitted. This is because FM signals have a narrower bandwidth than AM signals. This means that more FM signals can be transmitted in the same frequency band than AM signals. In summary, frequency modulators are electronic devices that are used to modulate the frequency of a carrier signal in order to transmit information. FM modulation is a form of angle modulation that changes the frequency of the carrier wave in response to the modulating signal. FM modulation has several advantages over AM modulation, including greater resistance to noise and interference and a greater range of frequencies that can be transmitted.
