Formosa Sapphire Scarf is an exquisite textile design creation that showcases the endemic Swinhoe's Pheasant of Taiwan through meticulous artistic interpretation. This sophisticated accessory, measuring 650mm x 650mm, represents a harmonious blend of cultural heritage and contemporary fashion design, crafted through a rigorous process of hand-drawn illustration subsequently transformed into digital vector format. The design, conceived and executed between October 2019 and January 2020, features distinctive natural brush strokes and vibrant color compositions that capture the magnificent blue plumage and striking gestures of the rare Swinhoe's Pheasant. The scarf, produced through precise digital printing on premium silk, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in preserving the original artistic strokes while achieving superior color accuracy. Designer Yen-Yu Chen's extensive research, including photographic studies and consultation of Wild Bird of Taiwan reference materials, contributed to the authentic representation of this elusive species. The design not only serves as a wearable art piece but also functions as a cultural ambassador, raising awareness about Taiwan's unique wildlife heritage. This innovative approach to textile design earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition, receiving an Iron A' Design Award in the Textile, Fabric, Textures, Patterns and Cloth Design category, acknowledging its contribution to combining traditional artistic elements with modern production techniques while promoting environmental consciousness and cultural preservation.
