Forest Lodge ECO House Residential Interior Design

Forest Lodge ECO House Residential Interior Design is an exemplary sustainable residential interior design project located in Sydney, Australia's heritage-listed precinct, demonstrating innovative approaches to eco-conscious living within a contemporary architectural framework. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project, completed in 2013, seamlessly integrates sustainable design principles with sophisticated aesthetic elements, featuring a striking black and white color scheme inspired by the owner's background in photography. The design maximizes the use of space within an 89m2 building envelope, creating 120m2 of internal living space that encompasses three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and auxiliary spaces. The interior design employs strategic use of reflective surfaces, including mirrors, timber joinery, and a ground floor latex mirror ceiling, creating compelling spatial illusions that expand the perceived dimensions of the space. Notable sustainable features include LED lighting systems equivalent to just three 60-watt standard light bulbs, double-glazed windows, polished concrete flooring, and recycled hardwood elements. The project's sophisticated material palette includes glass mosaic tiles, crushed black and white marble exterior walls, and aluminum-framed glass insert internal doors, while the bathroom design features an artful progression from black to white mosaic tiles. The interior demonstrates exceptional thermal performance without requiring air conditioning, even during extreme temperature conditions, showcasing the successful integration of sustainable technology with contemporary design aesthetics. The project's significance lies in its ability to harmonize modern sustainable design within a heritage context while creating a living space that reflects both environmental consciousness and sophisticated contemporary design sensibilities.
