FOODSMITH - FireWood Oven & Grill FireWood Oven & Grill Restaurant is an innovative architectural transformation project that exemplifies sustainable design principles through the adaptive reuse of an abandoned blacksmith's workshop into a contemporary dining establishment. Located in Amman, Jordan, this 150-square-meter ground floor restaurant, complemented by a 70-square-meter service area upstairs, represents a remarkable achievement in sustainable interior design and architectural preservation. The establishment's design philosophy centers on the extensive use of reclaimed materials, including lumber wood, copper pipes, and cement bricks, seamlessly integrating these elements to create a unique dining atmosphere that pays homage to the building's industrial heritage. The design, completed in 2014 by ABIDI wa HAKKI - Two Opposites Design, showcases a masterful blend of functional space planning and aesthetic consideration, earning recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The restaurant's distinctive character emerges from its carefully orchestrated orderly chaotic aesthetic, where every architectural element, from reclaimed wood planks to copper piping, has been meticulously positioned through detailed construction drawings. The open kitchen concept, featuring a prominent brick oven, creates an immersive dining experience that celebrates the relationship between craftsmanship and culinary arts. The design's success lies in its ability to transform waste products into sophisticated design elements while maintaining a strong connection to the space's historical identity as a metalworking facility.
