Food Terms Mobile Application is an innovative digital platform designed to preserve and promote traditional Chinese dietary wisdom based on the 24 solar terms calendar, developed by designers Yinan Wu and Yuanbing Zhao. This culturally significant mobile application serves as a bridge between ancient Chinese nutritional practices and contemporary lifestyle needs, offering users guidance on seasonal dietary choices that align with traditional Chinese wisdom. The application's interface thoughtfully integrates historical knowledge with modern user experience design, providing timely recommendations for appropriate foods and dietary practices corresponding to each solar term throughout the year. Developed using the MockingBot platform, this responsive application accommodates both iOS and Android devices, making traditional wisdom accessible to a broad audience. The design emerged from deep research into Chinese intangible cultural heritage, specifically focusing on the relationship between seasonal changes and dietary habits that have been passed down through generations. The application's unique feature set includes customized dietary recommendations based on the solar calendar, traditional folklore integration, and seasonal reminder systems that help users maintain harmony with natural cycles. This innovative approach to cultural preservation through digital means earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Cultural Heritage and Culture Industry Design category, acknowledging its contribution to maintaining cultural traditions in the digital age. The project, completed between September 2016 and April 2017 in Shenyang, China, represents a significant step forward in the digital preservation of cultural heritage, offering a practical solution for modern individuals to incorporate traditional wisdom into their daily lives while addressing the challenge of cultural preservation in an increasingly digitalized world.
