Food in Nature Photography is an innovative photographic art project that explores the intricate relationship between culinary presentation and natural elements, specifically created for a modern seafood restaurant's menu in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This sophisticated approach to food photography integrates carefully styled dishes with organic elements such as flowers and stones, creating a visual narrative that traces food back to its natural origins. The project, conceived and executed by photographer Duc Bui in collaboration with FPDB Creative, employs advanced lighting techniques and professional equipment, including a Canon 5D Mark IV with 24-70mm lens, to capture the essence of survival and growth in nature. The artistic direction focuses on the juxtaposition of meticulously prepared dishes against the raw beauty of natural elements, particularly highlighting the contrast between fragile flowers emerging from arid stones. Through careful attention to composition, lighting, and post-production techniques using CaptureOne and Adobe Photoshop, the project successfully creates a contemporary visual language that bridges the gap between fine dining and natural elements. The work, which earned an Iron A' Design Award in the Photography and Photo Manipulation Design category, demonstrates exceptional technical prowess in its execution, requiring twelve hours of intensive shooting time and extensive preliminary research to achieve its distinctive aesthetic. The project's significance lies in its ability to reimagine traditional food photography while addressing fundamental questions about the origin of culinary arts, creating an engaging visual dialogue between gastronomy and nature.
