Folklore in a Bottle - Jarosov Brewery Label design is an innovative packaging design project that masterfully integrates traditional Moravian Slovakian folklore elements into contemporary beer label aesthetics. This sophisticated design solution, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, demonstrates exceptional cultural sensitivity and artistic refinement in its approach to craft beer branding. The design incorporates significant regional symbols including the sorb tree, cockerel motif symbolizing resurrection, traditional hearts, and floral patterns, all rendered through precise vector illustrations and typography against a flat background. The visual language draws inspiration from botanical elements, folkloric architecture, and traditional craft, successfully merging wine-region iconography with beer-specific symbols such as hops and barley. The label system consists of three components: a main label (77 x 115 mm), a safety stamp (21 x 99 mm), and a back label (65 x 100 mm), all printed on recycled paper and applied to 500 ml dark-glass bottles with swing-top closures. The design's particular achievement lies in its ability to elevate the perception of craft beer in a traditionally wine-focused region, creating a visual identity that resonates with local pride while maintaining contemporary appeal. The color palette, derived from the traditional modrotisk fabric-printing technique, features white lines on a dark blue background, demonstrating thoughtful integration of cultural heritage into modern design practices. This design solution not only serves its immediate commercial purpose but also contributes to the preservation and evolution of regional cultural expressions through contemporary design applications.
