Fold And Rescue Paper Folding Lifeboat

Fold And Rescue Paper Folding Lifeboat

Fold and Rescue Paper Folding Lifeboat is an innovative emergency maritime safety vessel that revolutionizes traditional lifeboat design through the integration of origami-inspired folding principles. This groundbreaking design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Vehicle, Mobility and Transportation Design category, addresses the critical challenge of limited storage space on ships while maintaining full rescue functionality. The vessel's ingenious construction comprises nine thickened buoyancy boards interconnected with reflective material soft links, creating a robust yet collapsible structure that can be rapidly deployed in emergency situations. When folded, the lifeboat occupies minimal space with dimensions of 5020mm x 980mm x 930mm, while expanding to a functional size of 4480mm x 2010mm x 1110mm when deployed. The design's operational simplicity is achieved through a three-strap fastening system that enables quick transformation from stored to rescue-ready configuration, complemented by a positioning lock mechanism that secures the vessel's opening angle. Essential safety features include integrated flash lights, paddles, and safety handles, ensuring comprehensive emergency response capabilities. This people-oriented design approach, developed through extensive research and innovation during 2021-2022, represents a significant advancement in maritime safety equipment, offering a practical solution to increase the number of lifeboats that can be stored aboard ships while maintaining all necessary rescue functionalities and potentially saving more lives during maritime emergencies.
