Fly Modular System

Fly Modular System is an innovative furniture design solution created during the global pandemic quarantine period, representing a significant advancement in adaptive living space functionality. This versatile modular system, designed by Linda Martins in Brazil between July 2020 and August 2021, embodies the evolving relationship between inhabitants and their living spaces, emphasizing the necessity for homes to adapt to changing human needs rather than vice versa. The system comprises two primary structures of differing heights (2347mm and 850mm) with a width of 1100mm and depth of 400mm, featuring precisely drilled channels, integrated bars, adjustable shelves, and distinctive butterfly screws that enable multiple configuration possibilities. Constructed from a thoughtful combination of brass, steel, and repurposed pressed wood, the design demonstrates a commitment to sustainability while maintaining aesthetic appeal. The system's versatility allows it to seamlessly transition between various functional roles, from office setup to bedroom storage and kitchen organization, all while maintaining its minimalist and Scandinavian-inspired design ethos. The innovative use of butterfly-shaped screws not only serves a practical purpose but also introduces a symbolic element representing freedom and adaptability, encouraging users to explore creative configuration possibilities. This design, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, stands out for its user-friendly assembly process, requiring no professional assistance, thus democratizing the concept of modular furniture while successfully merging form with function in a contemporary context.
