Flowing Residential
Flowing Residential is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of natural materials and contemporary aesthetics in residential spaces. Created by designers Peter Cheng and Sam Tsai in Taipei, Taiwan, this sophisticated 135-square-meter residential interior draws inspiration from the organic patterns and textures found in marble formations. The design's distinctive feature lies in its innovative use of continuous marble surfaces that flow seamlessly from the entrance through to the living spaces, creating a unified visual narrative throughout the interior. The project, completed in 2018, showcases a masterful combination of materials including large-format marble, rust tiles, wood veneer, and brown mirrors accented with copper trim embroidery, resulting in richly layered wall surfaces that reinterpret traditional Chinese design elements through a modern lens. The technical achievement of perfectly matching marble patterns and implementing rounded corners demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship. The design's spatial arrangement, measuring 9 meters in width, 15 meters in depth, and 3 meters in height, creates an atmosphere of refined luxury while maintaining functionality. This project, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a significant achievement in residential interior design, particularly in its successful fusion of natural elements with contemporary architectural solutions.
