Flowers And Butterflies Are Dancing Public Art
Flowers And Butterflies Are Dancing Public Art is a monumental public art installation that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of nature-inspired design and contemporary architectural sculpture. Created by multidisciplinary artist Kuo Hsiang Kuo, this impressive installation, measuring 1400cm in width, 1100cm in depth, and 650cm in height, employs acid-resistant stainless steel and RGB lighting to create a dynamic visual experience that transforms with the changing seasons and natural light. The sculpture, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category, interprets the vitality of nature through the metaphorical dance of flowers and butterflies, drawing particular inspiration from the Formosa Lily, an indigenous Taiwanese plant symbolizing resilience and freedom. The installation's sophisticated engineering involves twelve distinct sections, each weighing between 500 to 1000 kilograms, masterfully assembled on-site to create a seamless, flowing composition. The work's innovative design incorporates strategic wind-penetrating elements that not only reduce structural stress but also enhance its visual integration with the surrounding environment. The sculpture's distinctive combination of mirror-polished and matte stainless steel surfaces creates an ever-changing interplay with ambient light, surrounding vegetation, and atmospheric conditions, while its RGB lighting system adds an additional dimension of visual dynamism during evening hours. This public artwork, completed in October 2018, serves as both a testament to technical precision in public art fabrication and a symbolic representation of environmental consciousness, encouraging viewers to contemplate their relationship with nature while providing a focal point for community gathering and artistic appreciation.
