Flood-Resistant Building
Flood-Resistant Building is a design approach that uses special landscaping features to help control water flow around a building during heavy rain or rising water levels. Designers can use raised earth platforms, called berms, or plant thick layers of water-loving plants around the structure to slow down and absorb water before it reaches the building. These features work together with the building's main structure, helping to keep water away from doors and walls and reducing the chance of damage. This method is part of climate adaptation because it uses the land and plants as natural tools to handle more frequent or intense flooding, which is becoming more common as weather patterns change.
