FLAMMA Washbasin

FLAMMA Washbasin

FLAMMA Washbasin is an innovative and sculptural bathroom fixture that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of artistic expression and functional design. Created by industrial product designer Ömer Faruk Yakupoglu, this distinctive washbasin draws its inspiration from the elemental force of fire, specifically the mesmerizing qualities of flame, interpreting this natural phenomenon through organic, modern forms. The design, which garnered a Bronze A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design category, features a wide, simple bowl with smooth surfaces that prioritizes both functionality and hygiene while maintaining its artistic integrity. Crafted from solid surface material, the washbasin showcases sharp, precise lines that enhance its flame-inspired aesthetic, achieved through an innovative production process involving combined semi-moulds for optimal manufacturing precision. The piece measures 600mm x 600mm x 850mm and is available in two distinct colorways: pure white and a sophisticated bronze-white combination. The design incorporates practical considerations such as ground-based water outlet compatibility and versatile installation options for both built-in and freestanding mixer configurations. The development process, spanning from April to October 2014, resulted in a bathroom fixture that transcends mere functionality to become a statement piece, offering users a unique artistic interpretation that transforms ordinary bathroom spaces into distinctive environments. The design's success lies in its ability to address architects' desires for eye-catching, distinctive designs while maintaining practical functionality, demonstrating how contemporary bathroom fixtures can serve as both utilitarian objects and sculptural elements within interior spaces.
