Fillet House Residential is an innovative architectural masterpiece completed in 2020 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, distinguished by its unique approach to maximizing corner lot potential through sophisticated filleted edges and rounded corners. This Silver A' Design Award-winning residential structure, spanning 1,100 square meters, exemplifies a harmonious blend of form and function in tropical architecture. The design's most striking feature is its staggered filleted mass that rises distinctively from its surroundings, employing a carefully curated palette of white, black, and grey curved solid planes complemented by timber elements and strategic glass installations. The structure's environmental responsiveness is evident in its thoughtful orientation, with a high-volume airwell housing a sculptural spiral staircase facing northeast, while the southwest-facing façade incorporates horizontal sun shading devices and aluminum fins. The architectural composition includes sophisticated elements such as a laser-cut metal railing system that wraps around a concrete spiral staircase, creating a continuous flow that echoes the building's filleted corners. The design demonstrates exceptional attention to natural light manipulation and ventilation, featuring open terraces, voids, and a tempered laminated glass floor that allows daylight to cascade through multiple levels. The residence incorporates convertible spaces, including a recessed frontage that functions as both a garage and potential veranda, while sliding timber screens serve dual purposes of sun shading and privacy enhancement, contributing to a layered architectural experience that masterfully balances aesthetics with practical tropical living requirements.
