Fiction Light

Fiction Light

Fiction Light is an innovative indoor lighting fixture that harmoniously merges functionality with emotional resonance, designed by Amir Baharikhahi and Maryam Mahmoudi. This sophisticated lighting solution, standing at 1600mm in height, features a cylindrical base crafted from interwoven wooden pieces that creates an organic, sculptural form reminiscent of natural tree structures. The design draws inspiration from ancient mythology, particularly the legend of crows sacrificing their inner light to illuminate human existence, incorporating stylized crow elements rendered in matte black recycled wood particles mounted on lightweight metal structures. The fixture's illumination is provided through paper spheres housing LED lights, each consuming 14 watts and featuring touch-sensitive intensity controls. The paper balls, formed through an innovative process involving water vapor-shaped recyclable paper, create a warm, diffused light that mimics natural sunlight filtering through trees. This Iron A' Design Award-winning creation in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category demonstrates exceptional attention to sustainability and environmental consciousness through its use of recycled materials and energy-efficient LED technology. The design's modular nature allows for easy transportation, as all components can be condensed into a basic cylindrical form. The fixture's aesthetic appeal lies in its minimal yet expressive design language, which successfully bridges the gap between functional lighting and artistic storytelling, creating an interactive experience that encourages user engagement and contemplation while providing optimal illumination for various interior spaces.
