Evd Office

Evd Office

Evd Office is an innovative interior design project completed in Shanghai, China, that masterfully combines classical architectural elements with modern design approaches to create a sophisticated workplace environment. Conceived by designers Yang Bing and Hao Liyun, this 300-square-meter office space demonstrates exceptional spatial organization through its distinctive U-shaped layout that maximizes natural light penetration from five large windows. The design's conceptual foundation rests on two primary threads that address site-specific constraints while creating an aesthetically pleasing and functional environment. The space incorporates classical architectural language, notably drawing inspiration from Antonello da Messina's St. Jerome in His Study, utilizing arched elements to create a sense of timeless elegance. The designers ingeniously resolved spatial limitations caused by essential infrastructure such as fire protection systems and air conditioning, implementing sustainable solutions including the use of environmentally friendly art paints composed of shell powder and natural gums across 95% of the wall surfaces. The project, which was completed between April and September 2019, earned recognition with a Gold A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to contemporary workplace design. The office's sophisticated integration of spherical elements, considered the most perfect geometric form, enhances the overall spatial aesthetics while creating an environment that balances openness with privacy, and fluidity with serenity.
