Esk Space Office is an innovative interior design project located on the 27th floor of a prominent building in Hangzhou's Binjiang District, China, exemplifying sophisticated spatial design through its thoughtful integration of form and function. This 420-square-meter office space, designed by Leo Chen, represents a masterful exploration of spatial dynamics, incorporating elements of deconstruction and reconstruction to create a visitor-centric environment that transcends traditional office aesthetics. The design philosophy centers on creating an atmosphere that combines professional functionality with residential comfort, achieved through careful consideration of spatial proportions and viewing angles. The space features a striking entrance with transparent floor-to-ceiling glass windows that showcase panoramic views of Hangzhou, while a strategically designed sunken reception area serves as the central focal point. The interior employs a sophisticated material palette including mirrors, glass, stainless steel, and marble wood finishes, creating an interplay between virtual and solid spaces. The project, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, is particularly notable for its innovative division into three functional zones, with the visitor area serving as the core. The design incorporates advanced lighting techniques that adapt from day to night, utilizing natural light during daytime hours and carefully planned artificial illumination for evening ambiance, complemented by the city's nightscape as a natural backdrop. The project's success lies in its ability to overcome spatial challenges through interpenetration, dislocation, layering, and mirroring techniques, resulting in a fluid, coherent environment that enhances both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
