Epi-Happy Tableware is an innovative ceramic centerpiece design that seamlessly merges mathematical principles with functional aesthetics, created by Greek architect and designer George Drakakis. This sophisticated piece, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design category, represents a remarkable translation of ornamental motifs into three-dimensional space. The design consists of three identical units that, when assembled, create a continuous storage surface inspired by epicycloid trajectories and the mathematical works of M.C. Escher on one-sided surfaces. Manufactured through slip-casting techniques in white ceramic material, the units are either magnetically connected or pre-assembled during production to form a seamless 180 x 180 x 56mm structure. The piece's versatility allows it to function as both a practical storage solution for small objects such as fruits, ornaments, keys, and USB devices, while simultaneously serving as an engaging interactive element that can be used as an anti-stress device or dexterity game. The design's sophisticated geometry, rooted in classical ornamental patterns yet expressing contemporary aesthetics, creates a harmonious balance between form and function. Its innovative approach to space utilization enables it to complement existing centerpieces while maintaining its own distinct presence, exemplifying how mathematical principles can be transformed into functional art for everyday use.
