Else Alfelt
Else Alfelt was a Danish painter who left an indelible mark on the Danish art scene with her unique style of expressionist painting. Born in 1895 in Svendborg, Denmark, Alfelt grew up in Copenhagen and began her artistic journey at the age of 20 when she enrolled at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Her early works were heavily influenced by the Danish painter Vilhelm Lundstrom, and she spent several years honing her skills before developing her own style. Alfelt's paintings are characterized by their bold lines, vibrant colors, and semi-abstract interpretation of the cityscape. Her works often explored themes of urban life and the complexities of modern society, reflecting the angst and turmoil of the time. She was particularly interested in the interplay of light and shadow, and her use of color was often symbolic, with each hue representing a different emotion or feeling. Despite her talent and success, Alfelt remained humble and dedicated to her craft throughout her life. She continued to paint until her death in 1974, leaving behind a legacy of powerful and thought-provoking works that continue to inspire and captivate audiences to this day.
