Ege Rug Collection is an artisanal series of handwoven kilim rugs that masterfully merges centuries-old Anatolian weaving traditions with contemporary design sensibilities, drawing profound inspiration from the aesthetic and emotional qualities of the Aegean Sea. Created by designer Fulden Topaloglu, this distinguished collection, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in Furniture Design category, exemplifies a harmonious fusion of cultural heritage and modern artistic expression. The collection's design language interprets the fluid movements and chromatic reflections of the sea surface, translating these natural phenomena into abstract patterns that create a calming psychological effect in interior spaces. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted by skilled Anatolian artisans using 100% local sheep wool, colored with vegetable-based dyes, emphasizing environmental sustainability and traditional craftsmanship. The collection features standard dimensions of 120x180 cm, 150x200 cm, and 180x240 cm, though custom sizing options are available to accommodate diverse spatial requirements. The flatweave technique employed in these kilims not only honors ancestral weaving methods but also provides practical benefits, including natural temperature regulation and inherent antimicrobial properties due to the wool's natural characteristics. The production process, typically spanning 6-8 weeks per piece, encompasses handweaving, shaping, washing, and finishing, resulting in unique pieces that bear subtle variations reflecting individual artisans' techniques while maintaining the collection's cohesive design vision.
