Eclipse Table Lamp
Eclipse Table Lamp is an innovative lighting fixture that masterfully combines sculptural aesthetics with functional illumination, drawing inspiration from the celestial phenomenon of a solar eclipse. Designed by Ayse Teke Mingu, this sophisticated table lamp features a distinctive spherical form crafted from concrete, deliberately chosen for its ability to naturally mimic the textured surface of the moon. The lamp's unique construction process involves careful hand-casting of concrete, resulting in a surface characterized by random blow holes and air bubbles, ensuring each piece maintains its individual character while maintaining design consistency. The interior of the sphere is enhanced with a high-quality epoxy coating that creates a warm, diffuse light, while the exterior maintains its raw concrete finish in a moon-gray color. Standing at 18 centimeters in height with a radius of 10 centimeters, the lamp incorporates modern LED technology, operating on 100-240V and consuming 10W of power. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, represents a bold departure from conventional lighting materials and forms. Its versatile design allows for varied positioning on tables or floors, while its 250-centimeter fabric or transparent PVC cable ensures practical functionality. The lamp's most remarkable feature is its ability to project a distinctive illumination pattern that mimics the partial eclipse effect, creating an atmospheric ambiance that transforms ordinary spaces into contemplative environments. This marriage of natural phenomenon inspiration with industrial material application demonstrates an innovative approach to contemporary lighting design, challenging traditional perspectives while maintaining practical functionality.
