Eclectus Parrot
The Eclectus Parrot (Eclectus roratus) is a species of parrot native to the Solomon Islands, Sumba, New Guinea and nearby islands, northeastern Australia, and the Maluku Islands. It is easily distinguished by its bright red and blue plumage. The Eclectus Parrot is considered to be an intelligent and social bird that can be kept as a pet and has been kept by aviculture fanciers in captivity since the late 1800s. The male and female of this species have distinct coloration and size differences, with the male being larger and having red plumage and the female having blue plumage. In the wild, this species of parrot is mostly found in tall, dense forests, but can also be found in mangroves, savannas and coastal regions.
