ECHOES Residence
ECHOES Residence is an innovative architectural interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of concrete minimalism with artistic expression in contemporary residential spaces. Located in Taiwan, this 264-square-meter residence transforms two-dimensional design principles into a sophisticated three-dimensional living environment, drawing inspiration from paper sculpture techniques. The design philosophy centers on the creative manipulation of lines and blocks, transitioning from planar elements to volumetric forms that define the spatial experience. Distinguished by its groundbreaking approach to Asian high-end residential design, the project employs concrete as its primary material, masterfully demonstrating the interplay between static and dynamic conditions in Oriental culture. The interior features several notable elements, including a sculptural entrance partition crafted from GAIA, an environmentally conscious material known for its humidity adaptation and plasticity, which serves both artistic and feng shui purposes. A distinctive dance table constructed from 9mm pig iron introduces an compelling contrast between hardness and softness through its dancer silhouette form. The space is further enhanced by thoughtful lighting design, with large windowpanes allowing natural light to interact with the architectural elements, creating dynamic visual experiences throughout the day. The project, completed in December 2015, received recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative spatial design and cultural sensitivity. The residence successfully redefines luxury living through minimalist expression, incorporating traditional feng shui principles while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic through its sophisticated use of materials, lighting, and spatial composition.
