EasyMed Mobile Application is an innovative healthcare software solution designed to address the critical challenges of polypharmacy and drug interactions, particularly focusing on the needs of older adults. This artificial intelligence-powered mobile application, developed by designers Lingshuang Kong, Yumei Feng, and Shichao Wang, represents a significant advancement in accessible healthcare technology, achieving a remarkable 93% accuracy rate in identifying potential drug interactions. The application's comprehensive database encompasses 200,000 drug-drug pairs and 330,000 drug-food pairs, utilizing sophisticated AI computational framework called DeepDDI to analyze compound structural information and generate human-readable interaction alerts. Distinguished by its user-centric design approach, EasyMed incorporates essential features including an intuitive homepage, drug interaction checker, food interaction analyzer, personalized drug list management, and educational content about polypharmacy. The application's design philosophy prioritizes accessibility and inclusivity, adhering to Microsoft Responsible AI principles and Age-friendly Design guidelines, manifested through features such as legible typography, optimal color contrast, and color-blind friendly interfaces. The development, completed between January and November 2023, resulted in a universally compatible application for both Android and iOS platforms, earning recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Mobile Technologies, Applications and Software Design category. This achievement acknowledges the application's significant contribution to addressing a critical healthcare challenge, considering that approximately 500 million older adults globally face elevated risks of adverse drug interactions when managing multiple medications.
