Easy-tear tape Adhesive Tape is an innovative adhesive solution designed to address the common challenges associated with conventional tape usage, featuring strategically placed perforated lines at regular intervals that enable clean, tool-free tearing. Developed by a team of designers including Lu Yi, Cao Weizhi, Sun Yuchen, and Kang Yixin in 2017, this sustainable product represents a significant advancement in adhesive tape technology. The design incorporates a sophisticated dual-functionality system where perforated lines are positioned at calculated intervals to maintain optimal adhesive strength while facilitating easy tearing. A distinctive feature of this design is the incorporation of a narrow, non-adhesive section behind each perforation, which serves as an intuitive starting point for the next tape segment without compromising the tape's overall adhesive properties. Manufactured using Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) with dimensions of 45mm x 50000mm, this tape effectively eliminates the need for additional cutting tools such as scissors, thereby enhancing user convenience and reducing resource consumption. The inspiration for this design came from envelope perforations, translating this familiar concept into an adhesive tape context. This innovative approach to tape design, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Sustainable Products, Projects and Green Design category, demonstrates how thoughtful design can significantly improve everyday products while considering environmental impact.
