Dunn Paint Concept Store is an innovative retail concept that revolutionizes the traditional paint store paradigm by seamlessly integrating a paint retail space with a versatile café-bar environment, completed in Nanning in December 2021. This groundbreaking interior design project, conceived by renowned Chinese designer Huang Xuanheng, draws inspiration from lunar landscapes, particularly the impact craters that form the brightest spots on the moon's surface. The space employs a sophisticated monochromatic approach, challenging conventional expectations of paint stores by avoiding overwhelming color displays in favor of warm, unified tones achieved through micro-cement applications that flow continuously from floor to walls. This design philosophy creates a natural, rustic atmosphere while simultaneously showcasing the subtle variations and textures possible with paint products. The versatile space transforms throughout the day, functioning as a coffee shop during daylight hours and transitioning into a wine bar in the evening, all while maintaining its primary function as a paint retail establishment. The design's innovative fusion of retail and hospitality spaces, combined with its celestial-inspired aesthetic and scientific undertones, earned it the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its exceptional contribution to advancing retail design concepts.
