Ducky Sanitaryware Set is an innovative children's bathroom furniture collection designed by Fatih Sen and Mehmet Oguz, featuring a comprehensive suite of sanitaryware elements inspired by the universally beloved rubber duck motif. This thoughtfully conceived design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design category, addresses the common challenge of helping children develop comfortable bathroom habits through its playful yet functional approach. The set comprises a ceramic washbasin measuring 520 x 400 x 630 mm, a child-sized toilet (300 x 550 x 750 mm), and complementary duck and egg-shaped acrylic mirrors that symbolize children's growth stages. The design's distinctive characteristics include organic, rounded forms that eliminate sharp edges for safety, while incorporating duck-inspired aesthetic elements throughout the collection. The washbasin features secure floor and wall mounting systems, while the toilet includes a specially designed lid with accessible front spacing for easy operation by small hands. Manufactured using plaster molding techniques, the ceramic components are complemented by acrylic elements chosen specifically for their durability and child-safety properties. The design demonstrates particular attention to technical challenges, such as the innovative solution for glazing the eyes on the toilet cistern's sloped surfaces, achieved through a specialized silicone template. The collection, developed between June 2015 and February 2016, represents a significant advancement in child-focused bathroom design, combining essential safety features with engaging aesthetics that transform potentially intimidating bathroom experiences into approachable, even enjoyable interactions for young users.
